Update: September 25

Greetings Parents

Thank you for your continued support of Wynbrooke! It was great seeing so many of you at the Citizen of the Month Program, the Scholastic Book Fair as well as our PTA Movie Night last week. We’d like to give a shout out to staff, PTA and Parent Volunteers for making these events a success!

On Friday, DCSD released its plan to make up the loss of instructional time due to Tropical Storm Irma. Effective Monday, October 2nd, the school day will be extended by 20 minutes for the remainder of the semester. By the end of the week, we will provide you with more information about how Team Wynbrooke will use this time to maximize student learning. We ask that you make the necessary arrangements to accommodate this change in our daily school schedule. Our new dismissal time will be 2:35 pm effective Monday, October 2nd.

November 7th was previously designated as a Professional Development Day for faculty and staff. However, it will now be a regular school day for students and staff. A letter outlining this plan was sent home with students on Friday.

As you are aware, the volume of traffic on our campus is very high. To ensure we are able to guarantee order and safety for all students, we need help from everyone.

• Slow down and respond accordingly to the request of staff monitors.

• Cars in the Bus Loading Zone while buses are unloading is a major safety risk for students and should not occur until after 7:25 am. Any cars arriving on campus between 7:00 am and 7:25 am should use the car rider drop off in back of the building.

• Be mindful of the Wynbrooke Subdivision residents when parking in their driveways, blocking mailboxes, parking in both directions, etc. Please be a positive representation of Wynbrooke Traditional Theme School and be courteous to those who call the Wynbrooke Subdivision home!

• Parent volunteers to assist with campus traffic in the morning from 7:00 am-7:45 am and in the afternoon 1:50 pm-2:30 pm will be greatly appreciated.

Please sign and return the Progress Report Envelope, the Bus Rider Agreement, and the Title I Parent School Compact Verification Form.

Our students love to have parents join them during lunch. We will institute a new practice that aligns with DCSD protocol to ensure we are able to maintain a safe environment for every student. Effective immediately, any person coming to join a student for lunch must be listed in Infinite Campus as an emergency contact. We ask all parents or family members who visit during lunch to be prepared to show an ID for verification. When visiting for lunch, please plan to eat the lunch that is available in the cafeteria, rather than bringing in outside food. We have several students who have severe food allergies that can potentially become life threatening if even inhaled. Thanks in advance for helping us minimize students’ health risks and keeping Wynbrooke safe.
