Update: June 7, 2020 - Summer Enrichment, Access to Building, and Reimbursements

I hope the summer has gotten off to a fantastic start for you and our students! Please take a moment to read in its entirety the important updates below:

Parent Pick-Up and Drop-Off Schedule

Wednesday, June 17th and Thursday, June 18th have been designated for Parent Pick-Up or Drop Off.  During these designated time frames, parents can pick up students’ personal items, reimbursements for field trips, or grade level dues if earned, yearbooks purchased through PTA, etc. Parents will also be able to return DCSD items such as textbooks, books from media center, band/orchestra instruments, etc. If returning items, be sure to use masking tape as a label with child’s name/teacher.

So that our faculty/staff have an opportunity to prepare for distribution, parents will not be able to visit our campus before June 17th. I ask that you make the necessary adjustments to follow the schedule below:

If you are not able to visit our campus according to the schedule above, all reimbursements will be mailed to the address we have on file in Infinite Campus. You will be able to retrieve your child’s personal belongings when schools open in the fall.

Procedures for Parent Pick-Drop Off

To ensure we are able to follow all social distancing guidelines, we ask parents reporting to our campus to wear masks and follow the directions below:

  • Enter campus through the main entrance and drive towards the parking lot/gymnasium (our designated area for car rider pick-up). Parents will remain in their cars at all times.
  • 1st Stop: Gymnasium To pick up medication and reimbursement checks for field trips, grade level dues, clubs, if it is due to you. All ASEDP reimbursements will be provided by the school district, not the local school.
  • 2nd Stop: Main Entrance (Near Flag Pole) To retrieve student’s personal items/medications or drop off items that belong to DCSD. Be sure to use masking tape as a label with child’s name/teacher.

Reimbursements

Reimbursements for field trips, club dues, or grade level dues if earned will be ready for distribution on June 17th and 18th. ASEDP reimbursements will be provided by the school district, not the local school. If you are not able to report to our campus according to the schedule above, reimbursement checks will be mailed to the address on file in Infinite Campus.

Report Cards

Although all final grades for the 2019-2020 school year are now available in Infinite Campus, we will mail final report cards to the address that is on file in Infinite Campus.

Summer Enrichment for Wynbrooke Students

As you know, it is a Theme School expectation for ALL Wynbrooke Scholars to participate in Summer Enrichment. We will offer two options for six weeks of Summer Enrichment, and each option is designed to bridge the gap during the summer with meaningful remediation or enrichment support.  Please be aware that this is REQUIRED and will be recorded in Infinite Campus as a Guided Practice grade for ELA and Math during the 9-week grading period.  We ask that you accept the challenge of a true partnership that is focused on increasing student achievement and make time during the summer to engage your child in learning. Parents will also receive one volunteer hour for their child’s completion of this project.  Summer Enrichment will launch Monday, June 8th. Please read this letter for more details.

Information for the 2020-2021 School Year

We have no idea how school will look in the fall.  We have uploaded the Uniform Policy and School Supply List to our website. As soon as our school district has made a decision regarding the 2020-2021 school year, we will be sure to share with  you. Continue to visit our website frequently for important information regarding the upcoming school year.

Right to Vote

Tuesday, June 9th is the Georgia Primary Election Day. It is more important than ever for you to exercise your right to vote!

2020 Census

It is absolutely critical that our state has an accurate census count. The data collection from this will be the basis for all levels of legislative representation for the next decade and determines the amount of federal funding that will be distributed to programs in our community. The funding from the 2020 Census impacts programs that we use every day; such as Title I Grants, the National School Lunch Program, the Special Education Grant Program (IDEA), and many more.

There is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a series of challenges to our community. However, this means that it is more important than ever that we remain unified and do our best to help and serve our children and remain dedicated to their education

Thankfully, it is easier than ever to respond to the 2020 Census. Georgians can do it from the safety of their homes in one of three ways: online at my2020census.gov, over the phone at 1-844-330-2020, or by mail using the paper questionnaire they received.

I understand that this is a lot of information to process but I thank you for taking time to do so. As always, we appreciate you and look forward to seeing you on June 17th or 18th.

Wishing each of you a marvelous day! Stay safe!
