Aug 6 - Updates - First Week of School

Good Day Wynbrooke Family

We are looking forward to an amazing school year with you and your child and feel honored that you have chosen Wynbrooke! To ensure that you are prepared for the first days of school, please take a moment to review the reminders below:

Arrival Time:
Students are allowed access at 7:00 am.
On Monday and Tuesday, students will report directly to the classroom. Beginning Wednesday, students will report to their designated Holding Rooms.

Students can be dropped off in the back near the gymnasium from 7:00 am-7:45 am and the bus loading zone from 7:20 am-7:45 am every day. The main entrance is not used for morning drop off because it interrupts the flow of traffic on our campus.

Class Rosters and Assignments:
Staff members will be available at every grade level hallway to provide classroom assignments. If for some reason, your child’s name does not appear on a class roster, please plan to meet with Ms. Montgomery, Assistant Principal, in the Cafeteria at 8:oo am on Monday. Because we cannot offer the same accommodation to all parents, we WILL NOT honor requests for specific teachers or classroom changes. We feel confident in our staff and believe in their ability to serve all students.

Dismissal and Transportation:
It is extremely important that your child’s teacher is aware of how he/she will get home from school. Bus Routes are posted in the hallway behind the cafeteria so that you can determine bus route locations as well as morning pick-up times. If you have a young child (ages 4-8) who rides the bus, make certain you are at the bus stop to receive him or her in the afternoon. Don’t forget to label your child’s backpack with contact information.

Car riders will be dismissed from the gymnasium, not the main entrance, beginning at 2:15 pm. Parents are encouraged to remain in their cars, as gathering at the door of the gymnasium will slow down the dismissal process. Students will be escorted to your car. Please plan ahead and expect delays. Thanks in advance for the patience you will display as we work to make sure EVERY student gets home safely.

Lunch Applications:
The cost of breakfast is $1.40 and lunch is $2.50. Online payment options are available. Lunch applications for free and reduced lunch are also available online at the DCSD website. Keep in mind that a new application must be completed every year regardless of your status during the 2016-2017 school year. Students will be expected to pay for their lunch until they receive approval status for free or reduced lunch.

After School Program:
We are happy to offer an after school program from 3:00 pm-6:30 pm that is operated by Wynbrooke Faculty. If you are interested in learning more about the after school program, please visit our school website. Information will be available in the cafeteria on Monday 8:00 am-9:00 am and every day 3:00 pm-6:30 pm.

Important Documents and Paperwork:
Be sure that all paperwork received during Open House is completed and returned to your child’s teacher. If you are a returning Wynbrooke student and did not provide a current Proof of Residence, it is important that you do so this week. Please submit by Friday, August 11th.

PTA Membership-Agenda Planners and Spiritwear:
If you need to join our PTA or purchase agenda planners and spirit wear, our PTA will be available Monday-Friday 7:00 am -10:00 am in the lobby.

Summer Enrichment Projects:
Summer Enrichment Projects for all returning Wynbrooke students are due to the homeroom teacher on Friday, August 11th. This is a Theme School requirement that will be graded and entered in Infinite Campus for each content area. Information is available on our website.
