Weekly Update: November 13-17

Greetings Wynbrooke Parents

Join us in congratulating our faculty members who were recently identified and recognized at the DCSD Academy of Educational Excellence Awards. We are so proud of Ms. Farley-Phillips, Teacher of the Year; Dr. Mullins, Employee Support Professional II, and Mr. Demone Gunter, Employee Support Professional I. We would also like to congratulate Ms. Deirdre Hill, Assistant Principal, who was named a Semi-Finalist in the Employee Support Professional II category. Job well done!

We hope you will join us for Thanksgiving Luncheons which are scheduled Tuesday, November 14th-Thursday, November 16th. Invitations were sent home last week and is also published on our website

Target Time Tutorial is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:15 am until 8:00 am. Select Target Time Students must arrive by 7:15 am in order to take advantage of this additional support. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, teachers will not be available for conferences, etc. due to our tutorial program.

Parent volunteers are needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 am-8:00 am to assist in the cafeteria, the hallways, and to help with traffic in the parking lot. If you are available, we would love your “Gift of Time” in exchange for a volunteer hour!

As a reminder, all parents should have completed 8 volunteer hours by the end of the semester. Failure to complete 16 volunteer hours for the 2017-2018 school year will jeopardize your child’s enrollment at Wynbrooke for the 2018-2019 school year.

Daily Drop Offs and Early Check-Outs:
We are inundated with daily drop offs such as student lunches, homework assignments, projects, etc. These daily drop offs cause frequent interruptions into the classroom, which ultimately interferes with teaching and learning for our students. To teach your child responsibility, please make certain he/she has all necessary items for a successful day before leaving home. All items dropped off during the day will be held in the front office until the end of the school day.

Early check- outs should be for emergencies only and will end at 1:45 pm through the month of November.

All visitors are required to sign in at the Front Office upon their arrival on campus. This is to ensure that the safety of students and staff. Teachers are not available for conferences, meetings, etc. while they are with their students. We thank you for assisting us with protecting our students’ instructional time!

Calling All Dads: Purpose Driven Dads will meet on Thursday, November 16th 6:30 pm.

School will be closed Monday, November 20th-25th for the Thanksgiving Break. We wish you and your family a safe holiday break and look forward to receiving our students on Monday, November 27th.

In preparation for the break, ASEDP WILL NOT operate on Friday, November 17th. Make sure other transportation arrangements are made and communicated to students/teachers. All payments will be received on Thursday.
