Weekly Update: October 15
Homework is an integral part of the instructional program at Wynbrooke. It may consist of activities such as make-up work, meaningful projects, reading, writing, completing a web-based or class assignments. Homework is intended to encourage independent study habits; to develop responsibility and self-discipline, and to reinforce what students have learned in school. The purpose of homework is to provide additional practice that will lead to mastery of grade level standards. At Wynbrooke, homework is required for all students Monday through Thursday and may be assigned on Fridays at the teacher’s discretion.

To help students be successful, parents should:

  • Make sure your child’s homework is fully completed. If your child does not understand a concept, please attach a note for the teacher to review.
  • Remember, in DCSD homework is weighted 45% of your child’s grade in each subject. Poor performance or failure to turn in homework assignments will have a negative impact on his/her overall average.

The following is a schedule of the amount of time your child should be spending on homework:

  • Pre-K- 15 minutes
  • Kindergarten & First grade -30 minutes
  • Second & Third grade -1 hour
  • Fourth & Fifth grade -1½ hours

Do you have access to Infinite Campus?

Infinite Campus is our student information system that can be used to monitor your child’s progress in core subjects. You can log in to check grades, monitor missing assignments, etc. If you have not already done so, please contact the front office to determine how to set up your account. This is an EXCELLENT resource!

Progress Reports for the 9-week window and course syllabi will be distributed later in the week.

Great News! Our PTA Fall Carnival is coming soon!

We are looking forward to our Fall Carnival which will be held on Saturday, October 27th 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. Please visit our website to learn how to purchase tickets this week. This is an event your child will not want to miss!

Calling All Dads!

We are in need of parent volunteers who can assist with assembling bookshelves for our book room. If you have any availability Monday-Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, we could really use your assistance. Please see Coach Gunter or Mr. Champion for more information.

Mid Week Updates - September 19
Greetings Wynbrooke Parents

Progress Reports for the 4.5 Week Window were distributed today.

As a reminder, the Discovery Parent Meeting  (5:30 pm) and the Early Intervention Program Parent Meeting (6:00 pm) will be held on Thursday, September 20th in the Computer Lab. If you received notification about your child’s participation in one of these programs, please plan to attend.

Our Annual Title I Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 25th at 6:00 pm. We’d love for you to come out to learn more about Title I and the support Wynbrooke receives for our students.

Great news, school pictures will be taken next week. On Tuesday, September 25th  Pre-K-2nd students will take school pictures and 3rd-5th students will take pictures on  Thursday, September 27th . Don’t forget that students should be dressed in their blue and white uniform.

Our first Principals Roundtable will be held on Friday, September 28th at 12:00 pm.

We’d like to give a shout out to Mr. Sinclair, a Wynbrooke Parent, who has been extremely helpful with restoring our outdoor classroom/school garden! We still need a few volunteers this week to assist in this area of our campus. If you love gardening and have time to spare, we would love your assistance. Please see Ms. C Morris in the Science Lab for more information.
